It is not pressing “embroider” on a PNG. Bad digitizing is why a sharp vector looks muddy at 3 inches. What a digitizer actually decides
- Run order: underlay first, then fill, then satin borders so the badge does not tunnel.
- Density: too light shows twill; too heavy bullets the fabric and wrinkles a cap.
- Pull compensation: stitches shrink toward the centre — letters need extra width in the file.
- Trims and colour changes: extra cones raise cost and can look busy at small sizes.

Coverage: 50%, 75%, 100%
Embroidery quotes often include coverage because a 3-inch patch that is all satin fill is more stitch time than an outline logo on twill. 100% coverage is not automatically “higher quality.” It is a look. Name it if you want a solid badge; leave open twill if that is the brand. We show fill on the mockup so you are not surprised by either a sparse crest or a stiff disc.
Puff digitizing vs flat
3D (puff) puts foam under satin. The file must leave room for height. Mixing puff letters with a flat icon is possible; it is planned in the stitch file, not guessed at the machine. 3D embroidered patches.
